How Old Do I Have to Be to Use Tanning Equipment in Ireland?
In Ireland, UV tanning equipment is restricted to individuals aged 18 and over under the Public Health (Sunbeds) Act 2014. The Tanning Shop operates a Challenge 21 policy, which means you may be asked to present proof of age before your session.
Spray tanning is not subject to the same restrictions. You may use our spray tan booths if you are 14 or over – a parent or guardian must accompany customers under 16.
How to use a Lay-Down Sunbed?
For optimal lay-down tanning comfort, lie flat on your back with your arms and legs relaxed. Keep your arms a few inches away from your sides. Don’t forget to put on your free protective eyewear before starting your session.

Should You Turn Over on a Lay-Down Sunbed?
No, there’s no need to turn over during your session. Our advanced sunbeds are expertly engineered to provide perfectly even exposure. Turning around during your session could also damage the sunbed acrylics, so we recommend staying as still as possible.
How to use a Stand-Up Sunbed?
Using a standing tanning bed couldn’t be easier. Simply step into the centre of the booth and try to stand as still as possible during your session. Several of our stand-up sunbeds also include overhead handles to keep your arms elevated without causing strain or fatigue. Remember to always wear protective eyewear before beginning your session.
How Does the Sun Angel Work?
A feature of the Sun Angel system is that it scans the most exposed area of your skin (your forehead) and the least exposed (the back of the arm or upper thigh) to adjust the lamps’ behaviour to suit your skin. Any areas scanned must be free of birthmarks, freckles, or cosmetics to ensure an accurate reading.
